Sometimes a simple “How are you really doing?”, can open the door to a conversation that matters.

🚔 THE CALL ENDS. THE WORK DOESN’T.

The lights go off. The patrol car pulls away.
But what happens next? 👀

A police call doesn’t always end when an officer leaves the scene. Behind the scenes, there may be reports to complete, evidence and photos to process, body-worn camera footage to categorize, witnesses and victims to document, notifications to make, and follow-up work for investigators.

And then… it’s on to the next call.

👮‍♂️📋🚔 A lot of police work happens after the flashing lights are turned off and the patrol car pulls away.

We want to give our community a better look at what happens after the call-the work you may never see, but that helps move an incident from the initial response towards investigation, prosecution, resolution, or simply getting someone the help they need. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at the work you don’t always see after the call.

Because answering the call is only the beginning. 💙

SEE SOMETHING ODD?👀 TRUST THE DETAILS

You Don’t Have to Solve the Crime- Just Notice the Details

You look outside and see something that just doesn’t seem right. When reporting suspicious activity, the small details can be extremely helpful.

What should you remember?

👕Clothing and Distinguishing features
🚗Vehicle Information-Color, Make, Model/Type and License Plate if safely visible
➡️Direction of Travel-Which way did they go?
📍Exact Location -Be as Specific as possible
⏰Approximate Time- If it’s happening now, call while it is occurring
👥Number of People Involved
👀What you actually observed- Tell us what you saw or heard rather than what you think may have happened

MOST IMPORTANTLY: YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST. 🛡
Don’t put yourself in danger trying to get better information.
🚫Don’t follow someone.
🚫Don’t confront them.
🚫Don’t approach a suspicious vehicle.

Observe from a safe location and let officers investigate.
🚨Emergencies/Crimes in progress: Call 911
📞Non-emergency assistance: 210-684-8897.

You don’t need to investigate. Notice the details.
Make the call. Let us do the rest. Leon Valley Police Department

🚸 THE FIRST WEEK IS OVER. THE DANGER ISN’T.

The backpacks are packed, families have learned their new routines, and the first-day excitement has settled down.

That’s exactly when it’s easy for drivers to become less cautious.

Students are still walking and biking to school. Buses are still stopping. School zones are still active. And traffic around our schools can still back up quickly during arrival and dismissal.

As you travel near Driggers Elementary, Leon Valley Elementary, Oak Hills Terrace Elementary, and Marshall High School, please:

🚶 Watch closely for students walking or crossing.
🐢 Slow down before entering school zones.
📵 Put the phone down.
🚌 Stop for school buses when required.
🚗 Expect vehicles to back up onto surrounding roadways.
⏰ Give yourself extra time and be patient.

LVPD officers will continue monitoring our school zones and addressing dangerous driving behaviors.

The first-day reminders shouldn’t last only one day. Our children’s safety depends on us every day.

🚔🏡 LEON VALLEY NIGHT OUT 2026 — REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! 🏡🚒

Leon Valley Night Out is coming Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6–8 PM, and we’re inviting neighborhoods throughout our community to participate!

⭐ WHAT IS LEON VALLEY NIGHT OUT?
Unlike a traditional citywide event held at one location, Leon Valley Night Out happens right in YOUR neighborhood. Residents organize their own gatherings, and members of the Leon Valley Police Department and Leon Valley Fire Department will make their way throughout the city to visit participating events. City leaders may also stop by as schedules allow.

🏘️ HOW CAN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD PARTICIPATE?
Your gathering can be as simple or creative as you want! Consider:
• A neighborhood block party
• Cookout or potluck
• Front-yard or driveway gathering
• Games and activities for the kids
• Music and refreshments
• An HOA or neighborhood get-together
• Or simply setting out some chairs and spending time with your neighbors!
The goal is simple: meet your neighbors, strengthen community connections, and build relationships with the first responders who serve Leon Valley.

📋 REGISTER YOUR EVENT
If you're hosting a Leon Valley Night Out gathering, please register it with the Leon Valley Police Department so we can add your location to our official list of participating events.

📅 Event: Tuesday, October 6, 2026
⏰ Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
📌 Registration Deadline: September 27, 2026
