“A party to change the world?”

Really?

Isn’t that a little ambitious? Maybe even arrogant?

“Who do you think you are to believe you can change the world?”

I’m faced with those thoughts alongside an army of limiting beliefs nearly every single day. Some days they show up multiple times an hour. It’s the voice of doubt. The inner critic. The monkey mind. What some call limiting beliefs and others call the accuser. Whatever name you give it, it’s the voice that tells us we’re too small to matter, too ordinary to make a difference, or that someone else will solve the problems we see around us.

I choose not to believe it.
Every meaningful movement in history began when ordinary people decided to take one small step together. That’s what fascinates me about the word quantum. We use it to describe massive breakthroughs, but in physics, a quantum is simply the smallest measurable unit. The universe changes one tiny unit at a time.

Maybe movements do too.
James Clear writes in Atomic Habits that extraordinary results are built through small actions repeated consistently over time. The future isn’t usually changed by one giant leap. It’s changed by habits.

So here’s the question that keeps me up at night.
What if businesses and organizations across every sector of society became habitually generous?
What if every transaction carried with it a commitment to leave our communities a little better than we found them?

Starting with just one percent.
One percent of our revenue.
One percent of our time.
One percent of our influence.
A quantum habit.

Small enough for anyone to begin.

Powerful enough to transform generations.

That is the movement we’re setting out to build.

We call it the Find Your Place Movement.

Our movement is marked by a simple commitment:

To leave our planet and our people better off because we were here.

The truth is, this movement didn’t begin with this party.
For me, it began in college when a few friends and I started a painting and home services company. From our very first jobs, we believed business could be about more than making money. We committed to giving 10% of our gross revenue back to charitable causes. That conviction has stayed with me ever since.

Over the years, I’ve met countless business owners who share that same heart. Many organizations are already giving 1%. Others have grown to 2%, 10%, or even beyond. The point isn’t that everyone gives the same amount. The point is that generosity becomes part of the business model from the very first transaction.

We believe in giving from gross, not from what’s left over.
Because generosity isn’t an expense to consider after a successful year. It’s a value to practice from day one.

Our vision is to confront placelessness in communities across the world by building and preserving habitats, cultivating a sense of home, and restoring hope for the future.

We believe placelessness is one of the defining challenges of our time.
Some people lack a safe or affordable habitat.
Others have a house but have lost their sense of home and belonging in a community.

And far too many, especially our young people, are losing hope. Isolation, loneliness, anxiety, depression, su***de, addiction, and disconnection continue to grow. We believe every child deserves to know they belong, every family deserves a place to call home, and every community deserves a future worth believing in.

That’s why the Find Your Place Movement begins with the next generation.

We’re inviting businesses, nonprofits, churches, schools, civic organizations, and families to invest, starting with just one percent, beyond the walls of their own organizations and into causes that matter deeply to the people within those organizations while confronting placelessness in their communities.

This isn’t about every organization supporting the same cause.

It’s about every organization discovering how its unique gifts, values, and people can help build and preserve habitats, cultivate a sense of home, and restore hope for the future.
Imagine if generosity became woven into the culture of every business and organization. Imagine if every success became another opportunity to invest in the next generation and strengthen the communities that made that success possible.

That’s why we’re throwing A Party to Change the World.

Because healing begins with connection.

Community has always been one of humanity’s greatest medicines. Around a table, over a meal, through music, laughter, generosity, and meaningful conversations, strangers become neighbors, neighbors become friends, and friends become a force for good.

This evening is more than a fundraiser.

It is the launchpad for the Find Your Place Movement.
We’re honored to add some more momentum to it by raising some money for organizations already doing extraordinary work throughout Oregon, including but not limited to the Boys & Girls Clubs across the valley, SafeHaven Humane Society, and Jackson Street Youth Services. These partners represent our focused investment for this event as they also match our target of investing in the next generation and in offering habitat solutions, a sense of home and belonging, and hope for the future.

The movement will continue to grow through every person who attends, every organization that begins with just one percent, every nonprofit that joins the mission, and every conversation that continues long after the night is over.

It will also grow through the launch of our nationally televised television series, Find Your Place, which follows our journey of confronting placelessness in communities across the world. Through real estate, storytelling, and service, we’ll explore what it truly means to call a place home while facilitating the discovery of community, legacy, and adventure everywhere we go.

For all those who have already bought your tickets:

Thank you for believing that hope is worth investing in.
Thank you for believing that small, consistent acts of generosity can create extraordinary change.
Most of all, thank you for choosing to be part of something bigger than yourself.

And for all those that haven’t bought your tickets yet:

I hope you’ll consider joining us at the party, and also joining the Find Your Place Movement.

I know there is a lot going on this time of year, but even if you can only come by for part of it, I know you will be blessed by the energy that will be created at A Party to Change the World in West Salem on July 18th.

Come join us, and together, let’s help every person find their place.

P.S. if you want to be apart of the movement, but aren’t able to attend the party, let me know. I still would love to stay in touch, champion your cause, and invite you to the watch party when the TV show launches in October!
