At only 1 mile from the Town of Cleveland Town Hall Tank Hollow Falls is a beautiful site.

Even better for those that c love beauty but not the hike this is just a short few steps from the parking lot to being in the water.

There are hiking trails if you feel more adventurous too.

These mini loaf’s of that wonderful bread that you normally have to drive all the way to the land of butterfly’s and country music can be grabbed locally in Hansonville from Fig and Flour Sourdough

I would have recorded us eating it too for reactions but 3 little hungry girls gobbled it up as soon as I iced it!

The drive is worth it to this scerene setting on almost 3 acres. Create a mini homestead with the back fenced area and mini barn or just enjoy being away from it all.

Only 22 minutes from the Town of Lebanon you are still close to shopping and groceries, or just order Walmart delivery since it comes to your door out here!

I was lucky enough to try a new item from R&R Farmstead & Bakery while I was at the Town of Lebanon Virginia Farmers Market on Wednesday.

If you haven’t had Crystal’s food before you are missing out.

We have snatched up Everything Bagels any chance we catch her at the market that my wife absolutely loves.

On top of that her cookies, cakes and breads are all made with the best ingredients she can find so you don’t feel bad after eating them from all the nasty stuff in regular flour and items used in baking.

What’s your favorite thing you have grabbed from her?

Catch her at the Lebanon Farmers Market on Wednesday’s and Abingdon on Saturday’s.

With the prices of eating out on the rise I thought I would take what I normally spend on takeout at McDonalds and instead buy fresh ingrdients from Lebanon Farmers Market to make a healthy meal all from local growers.

For this I was able to get:
2 Bell Peppers from R&R Farmstead & Bakery
Bag of potatoes, squash, a giant Tomato and rolls from Joni and Raymond McGlothlin
1lb of local ground beef from Lyttle Farm of Copper Ridge

I came home and cooked with a little help on the Blackstone Products along with some The Hungry Hussey Heifer Dust.

This meal had enough for 8 portions and all under $25!

351 Russell St is officially under contract.

For this young couple as soon as they walked in their little girl made herself at home. Running to every room and playing. I can imagine many years of fun for all of them are to come!

Next comes the home stretch of all the things that happen in the background after you get that accepted contract.

Coordination with the lender, inspections, appraisals and last but not least, packing!

Excited to see how this next chapter begins for these folks.

If you grew up in Honaker, VA I’m sure you remember David’s grocery and the amazing food that came out of the deli.

I would say those were some of the best meals, grabbing fried chicken and potato wedges that I still remember almost 40 years later.

Unfortunately, neither the grocery store or the building remain, but the memories of fresh cook, meals, and community still exist in the Town of Honaker.

Rumor has it that the potato wedges and fried chicken are the same at Tiger Stop just up the road but do you think they are the same? Or can it never be repeated how good they were at David’s?

Did you have a favorite meal there?

Or is there somewhere else in Southwest Virginia that you remember from the past that you want me to visit and remember with you.

Castlewood Crust & Crumb was on the menu today.

i’ve seen people raving over these oatmeal cream pies and I was lucky that they were two left so I could grab one. When I say this thing is fresh, I mean it tasted like it was straight out of the oven and ready to enjoy. The cream filling was like fluffy and sweet and perfectly with the oatmeal cookie. It was a sandwich between.

Don’t get stuck eating an old packaged item from the store when you can have a delicious fresh option like this

I know she’s not open every day, but you can find her hours online for when she stocks the cabinet, but be sure to get there quick so that you can enjoy the treats as well.

With so many local artisans having these pop-up farm stands, which one has been your favorite and what should I try there?
