Will or trust? The right answer depends on you.
Your family, property, goals, and individual circumstances all play a part in choosing an estate
plan.
A will can state how you want certain assets distributed after your death through the probate
process and name people to handle important responsibilities.
A trust provides another way to manage and distribute assets and, when properly established and funded, can help avoid probate in most cases and establish long-term distributions after death.

Some plans use both. The goal is to understand your options and choose what best meets your
needs and goals.

When Your Child Turns 18
They turn 18. You’re still their parent - but some things legally change.
Parents don’t automatically retain the same authority to access information or make decisions for
an adult child.
Medical and financial powers of attorney, along with appropriate information-release
authorizations, are worth discussing as your child enters adulthood.
