Dear Clients:

In order to remain compliant with the Kentucky Healthy at Work requirements and to ensure the continued health and safety of our clients and our staff, Nickerson Watts, PLLC has enacted the following policies:

1) Client meetings shall continue to be scheduled to take place via the client’s choice of remote technology (telephone, Zoom videoconferencing, or FaceTime). In-person meetings shall be scheduled only at the discretion of the attorneys for matters which would be impossible or impractical to handle via remote technology.

2) Mediations and hearings shall be conducted via remote technology unless specifically directed otherwise by the Court, in accordance with Kentucky Supreme Court Order 2020-39.

3) Clients and other visitors are asked to wear a mask or other facial covering at all times while on our premises. If clients do not have a mask or other facial covering, one will be provided for them immediately upon arrival. Attorneys and staff members shall wear masks at all times during any client interactions and shall maintain a distance of at least six feet away to the greatest extent possible. Hand sanitizer shall be widely available throughout our premises.

4) No individual shall enter onto our premises who have: (a) Experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 24 hours, including cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fever; chills; muscle pain; sore throat; or new loss of taste or smell; (b) Been asked to self-quarantine by any doctor, hospital, or health agency; or (c) Been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days or had contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days.

5) Clients needing to pick up or sign documents in our office may do so by appointment so that documents may be prepared for their signature at the front desk when they arrive, along with a freshly-sanitized pen. Signatures shall be witnessed from a distance of at least six feet away, and notary certificates will be completed following the client’s departure from our office.

6) Clients needing to drop off documents or payments at our office are asked to do so via the mail slot located at our rear entrance.

7) As always, payments may also be made by mailing a check to our office or by credit or debit card via phone or online (just call or email and we can send you a link to make a secure payment via our credit card processing website).

On March 27, 2020, the Kentucky Supreme Court entered Administrative Order 2020-14 to provide guidance to parties with custody and parenting time orders. The Order clarifies that although existing court orders control, reasonable accommodations must be made to account for extenuating circumstances related to the COVID-19 emergency.

A copy of that Order can be viewed here:

Dear Clients:

Effective March 16, 2020, the Supreme Court of Kentucky has suspended all court operations through April 10, 2020, with the exception of emergency matters such as domestic violence hearings, due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Likewise, Governor Beshear has suspended schools across the state. The goal of both of these measures is to ensure that people stay home where possible for the next few weeks in order to avoid widespread transmission of COVID-19 within our community.

In light of this news, we have elected to close our office to in-person traffic during this time. We will instead be offering appointments and consultations via telephone conference or videoconferencing, depending on your preference, and will remain available as always via telephone or email.

If you need to make a payment, you can do so either by mailing a check to our office or by credit or debit card via phone or online (just call or email and we can send you a link to make a secure payment via our credit card processing website).

We appreciate your understanding and hope that these arrangements will assist in keeping everyone healthy over the coming weeks while continuing to ensure that your legal needs are met to the very best of our ability. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns that you might have.

Thank you,

Nickerson Watts, PLLC
