Moving Suitland forward takes partnership, commitment and a shared vision for the community.

During Economic Development Week, I joined colleagues and partners to highlight the Suitland project and the work underway to advance that vision.

For me, this work comes back to people: the residents we serve, the neighborhoods we invest in and the opportunities we help create. I’m proud to lead the Redevelopment Authority’s efforts to strengthen communities across Prince George’s County.

Thank you to our partners Revenue Authority Of Prince Georges County for their continued commitment to Suitland’s future. Together, we’re building momentum.

Tonja and I are praying for Will, Michele, and the Jawando family as Will takes the time he needs to recover. Our God is a healer!

On the morning of Saturday, September 5th, Will experienced a heart attack during his regular weekend pickup basketball game. He was treated at The George Washington Hospital, the procedure went exceptionally well, and his doctors expect a full recovery given his overall good health.

He's going to take a few weeks to follow their guidance, which means a lighter schedule. But he's still working, and will be back out in the community as soon as the doctors say he's ready. He's focused on November and needs all of us focused on this critical election as well.

Michele and the kids have asked for privacy while he recovers. We're grateful to our volunteers, supporters, and neighbors across the county and state for the messages, calls, and prayers. We'll keep you posted with updates.

I had a great time connecting with community leaders from across Maryland at the recent Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Conference — alongside members of my RDA team!

The conference gave us a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas and hear firsthand about the priorities shaping communities throughout our state.

At the Redevelopment Authority, we know that strong communities are built through strong partnerships. I’m grateful for the conversations, connections and shared commitment to creating opportunities for Prince George’s County and communities across Maryland.

The Prince George’s County Redevelopment Authority joins the nation in honoring the life and enduring legacy of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., a visionary leader whose voice, courage, and conviction helped shape the course of American history.

Rev. Jackson stood as a champion for economic justice, civil rights, and community empowerment. Through decades of advocacy, he challenged institutions to expand opportunity and invest in communities that too often had been overlooked. His work reminded us that true progress is measured not only by growth but also by who benefits from it.

As we continue our mission to advance equitable development and create pathways to economic opportunity throughout Prince George’s County, we do so mindful of the foundation laid by leaders like Rev. Jackson. His legacy calls us to lead with vision, serve with compassion, and work collectively toward a future where all communities can thrive.

We honor his life, his leadership, and his unwavering commitment to justice and hope.

The Prince George’s County Redevelopment Authority is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of Clyopatra Winery & Village Vineyard Resort in Laurel, Maryland, founded by visionary Ifeoma C. Onyia.

This transformational 41-acre development is more than a winery. It represents a bold investment in what is possible in Prince George’s County, blending innovation, culture, and education to inspire future generations. As the first African immigrant-owned winery and vineyard in the United States, this project stands as a powerful symbol of vision, entrepreneurship, and opportunity.

We are honored to support this project that reflects the strength of entrepreneurship in our county and contributes to a vibrant, forward-looking economic landscape for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
