Nearly 6 years ago, with the encouragement and support of my wonderful wife Samone Gibson, I opened the Law Office of Brandon J Gibson, PLLC. Since then the firm has grown from literally nothing to what it is today. We have been able to help dozens of clients who’ve had their rights violated by either employers, the government, or other individuals. We’ve also been able to defend people and companies in civil matters when they needed it the most.

It has been an amazing ride, but now it’s time to explore new opportunities. I am excited to announce that starting next week I will be joining RTR Law as the lead of their employment law division. I have been tasked with developing and growing the firm’s employment law practice. I will bring the same knowledge, passion, and compassion for my clients that I have used to grow my firm. Combined with the infrastructure and resources of RTR I am excited to see where we can grow, and looking forward to this next chapter.

On December 1, 2020 Broward County commissioners unanimously agreed to pass a ban on racially-based hair discrimination, to ensure protection against discrimination based on race-based hairstyles by extending statutory protection to hair texture and protective styles such as braids, locs, twists, and knots in the workplace and public schools.

Broward County joins California, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, Colorado, Maryland and Virginia who have also passed similar bans. A state wide measure was attempted but it died in the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee in March.

In a landmark 6-3 decision the Supreme Court has ruled that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits s*x discrimination, applies to discrimination based on s*xual orientation and gender identity.
