On Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate progress while remembering just how recent some of that progress is.

Just 52 years ago, married women could be denied a credit card in their own name. It wasn’t until the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 that discrimination in lending based on s*x or marital status became illegal.

That history is a powerful reminder that the opportunities women have today were built by women who challenged what was accepted, advocated for change and opened doors for those who came next. Here’s to continuing to build a future where every woman has the knowledge, access and opportunity to confidently shape her own path.
