A ticket for something as minor as driving with expired registration, driving without your license or not having proof of insurance in the vehicle can land someone in jail if they are unable to afford the fines and fees.

In light of this worldwide crisis surrounding COVID-19, our thoughts are with the people and families that this virus has impacted and continues to impact as well as the heroic people providing care for those affected.

We here at The Ticket Angel would like to inform our clients that per Governor Steve Sisolak, professional offices, including those of lawyers are allowed to remain open. As a division of the Law Offices of the Kristina Wildeveld and Associates, our doors remain open.

The frightening impact this virus has had on families and their loved ones in addition to our Constitutional obligation is the main reason we have to keep our doors open to you. Telephone conferences and in person meetings are being offered Monday-Friday and on a concierge video basis which is preferred. We are also fully able to handle your ticket via email and fax so that your ticket is not forgotten about (as they currently will not go into warrant given the status of the world).

Please note that our office is able to accommodate the meeting of clients without overreaching the CDC’s recommended 10 persons or less gathering rule. Our Offices and work spaces are all more than 6 feet apart, meeting areas are disinfected before and after every client meeting, door handles, light switches, bathrooms, etc. are disinfected numerous times a day.

If you or someone you know is in the high-risk pool, but needs legal advise, please call as we are able to accommodate remote visits while following proper guidelines and protocols.

Did you know that if you hold a valid ma*****na card, you can avoid an administrative revocation by the Department of Motor Vehicles?

Under the law as currently written, if a "detectable amount" of ma*****na is found in your evidentiary blood sample, a 90-day revocation will ensue - unless you have the valid card. In that case, you will receive a dismissal under the Implied Consent Laws.

Even so, the State and overly zealous prosecutors may attempt to seek your conviction under the "prohibited substance" statute.

Strong arguments can be made that rather than a ridiculously low per se limit, the state should be required to show actual impairment which is much more difficult.

If you've been unjustly accused of driving under the influence, even if you believe you are guilty, it is wise to seek professional guidance because - believe it or not – the State must follow many rules before they are allowed to convict you.

Since DUI is a priorable offense, it is foolish to simply roll over and accept a conviction without garnering an experienced professional opinion concerning the strengths and weaknesses of your case.

I say it is foolish because one never knows what the future will bring and the punishments for subsequent DUIs become progressively worse with larger fines, longer jail sentences and more lengthy driver license revocations.
