I am no economist but will say: It is really a bitter-sweet point that interest rates are coming down.

The sweet part:
Falling rates will make homes feel more affordable next year, likely heating up the market—NAR even predicts a 4% rise in equity by 2026. But here’s the interesting part: builders and sellers are already offering major rate-related, and closing costs incentives, meaning you could get a better deal now than if you wait. Once the market heats up, prices follow— and these incentives, often worth thousands to tens of thousands of dollars, may not last

The bitter side:
Rates are dropping partly because unemployment is rising and inflation is somewhat easing. The takeaway? If you want to buy a home but plan to wait for a “better deal,” I strongly encourage you to dig deeper into researching the market, you will find the deals are right in front of you now!

The U.S. housing market will finally turn the corner in 2026, with a double-digit increase in home sales supporting a 4% increase in home prices, according to new predictions from the National Association of Realtors®.

“Next year is really the year that we will see a measurable increase in sales,” Yun said on Friday at a NAR conference in Houston. “Home prices nationwide are in no danger of declining.”
