Mountain’s Edge, a 3,500-acre master planned community located on Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road, was created by Focus Property Group, and will eventually have an estimated 14,500 homes. Adjacent to the community lies a portion of the Old Spanish Trail from which explorers first discovered the Las Vegas Valley. When fully developed, Mountain’s Edge is planned to have four elementary schools,
two of which are already open, two middle schools and a high school. Mountain’s Edge is home to Fire Station 66, which was built as part of a cooperative agreement between Focus Property Group and Clark County. The 80-acre Exploration Park features a fully-custom Western Theme Park, which includes an Old West town, Native American play structures, an archeological dig area, a water tower play area and other attractions. Exploration Park surrounds the base of Exploration Peak, the area’s first mountain park, which rises 2,846 feet high at the entryway to Mountain’s Edge. The park offers hiking trails to the top viewpoint, which provides a 360 degree view of the Las Vegas valley. Nature created a rich fossil find along Exploration Peak and prior to the community’s groundbreaking ceremony, Focus Property Group restored the mountain with nearly 10,000 native plants. Additionally, Mountain’s Edge was designed from its inception as a drought tolerant master planned community and its commitment to water conservation extends throughout the community’s landscape and into design guidelines put into place by builders selling homes in the master plan.
