Wednesday morning a couple of Animal Advocate members received messages with a plea for help with 8 puppies rescued by a Good Samaritan. Immediately everyone swung into action to come up with a plan. Ashley was able to pick up the puppies, and our faithful foster member Laura took them in. Irene and Kathy, the puppy line ladies, vaccinated and got them secured for future transport to Colorado. While this situation had a good outcome, not all cases do.
The amount of dumped puppies is unbelievable, and many don’t see all the situations we are involved with because we can’t post them all. Keep in mind that dumped litters that cannot be rescued, or that go unreported, eventually turn into dog packs. Often times these packs are in fight or flight mode, scared and hungry, and end up injuring other animals or people. In those scenarios the one to blame is the neglectful owner who failed that animal, and those people need to be held accountable. Therefore, please be mindful when you vote people into office who have the ability to hold people accountable, and whether they do it or not. Also, reach out to the judges and DA’s office and express your concerns with animal welfare in our community. Last but not least, please be responsible pet owners and have your pets spayed/neutered. Animal Welfare Coalition (AWC) has monthly low cost clinics for spay/neuter, vaccines and microchip, so please call and get on their list asap 505-426-6715. Together we can all make a difference.
We are also accepting donations to help with care and needs of these cute puppies, and to assist us in our continuous efforts. Venmo link is below and we also accept cash/check. Thank you all🐶🐱❤️
