Belleair friends:

I know we are all still cleaning up in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, but unfortunately we have another storm coming… Hurricane Milton is looking like it will be a much more significant wind event than Hurricane Helene. Please remember:

1. Understand your homeowners insurance policy: Know what your insurance policy covers in the event of a hurricane.

2. Take inventory: Make a list of your home's contents, including photos, descriptions, and receipts. Keep this list in a safe place.

3. Photo/Video: document everything (interior/exterior/roof). OVER DUE IT.

4. Prepare an emergency kit: Assemble a kit with supplies for you and your family to last at least three days. Include non-perishable food, water, and medicine.

5. Strengthen your home: Take steps to protect your home from hurricane damage, such as:
-Securing and sealing your roof
-Shielding your doors and windows
-Bringing outdoor furniture inside
-Decuttering your gutters

6. And like my post about Hurricane Helene… The area is going to be crawling with people door knocking for business. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON WHO YOU HIRE to do mitigation/emergency services/dry out/rebuild/roof etc….

My prayers go out to folks who are still dealing with Helene. Please stay safe. Feel free to reach out if anyone has any questions regarding their policy.

Thank you,

TJN

To all my friends effected by Hurricane Helene:

There are a lot of great companies out there for everything that needs to occur to put your home back to a pre-loss condition (tear out/ dump/ dry out/ build back/roof). Please be careful and do your due diligence on the companies you hire. There are a lot of companies out there that come down to our area who do not have our/your best interest in mind.

If anyone needs recommendations on a list of my preferred vendors that I work with closely, please let me know. Do not hesitate to reach out to me on my cell or on Facebook messenger.

I hope everyone is safe and I pray for everyone that had considerable damage to their home.

The Times Union Reports – A woman is suing the Grace Baptist Church in Lansingburgh, alleging its leadership ignored her daily sexual abuse as a child at the hands of a youth pastor – then claimed that she had “led him on.”

A lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court on Broadway alleged Larry Hallock, the church’s former youth pastor, sexually abused the victim “on a daily basis” between 2000 and 2002 in the church located at 612 Fourth Avenue. The girl was between 15 and 17 at the time, her lawyer said.

At the time of the abuse, the lawsuit said, Hallock’s wife sent the child several letters acknowledging that she had informed the leadership of Grace Baptist Church of Hallock’s involvement with the child.

“Rather than inquire as to why (the child) was receiving letters from the Pastor Larry Hallock’s wife, the church leadership did nothing,” the lawsuit said. “Later when the abuse came to light, they stated the plaintiff had ‘led him on.’ More, Grace Baptist Church leadership has stated because plaintiff didn’t ‘cry for help’ she was culpable for the abuse perpetrated upon her.”

Dallas attorney Ashley Pileika and Florida attorney Thomas J. Nessler.

The victim, identified only as a “Jane Doe,” now resides outside of the country, the lawsuit said.

"She is extremely private about her personal life due to the fact she has been harassed, stalked, threatened by members of the church," Nestler told the Times Union. "The abuse she suffered has taken extreme tolls on her personal happiness. In my opinion, she is an extremely brave woman for speaking out and trying to make herself whole again."
