What credit score do you need to buy a home? 🏡

The down payment isn’t the whole number. 🏡

When you’re saving to buy a home, there are a few other expenses to plan for besides the down payment.

Depending on the purchase, you may also need money for things like:

🔺Deposits or utility setup

Same house. Different monthly payment. 🏡

A rate buydown is one way to reduce the interest rate on a mortgage, which can lower the monthly payment.

There are a couple of common ways this can work:

Temporary buydown: the interest rate is reduced for the first one, two, or sometimes three years of the loan, then returns to the original rate.
Permanent buydown: money is paid upfront to lower the interest rate for the life of the loan.

In some transactions, the seller, lender, or builder may contribute toward the cost of the buydown, depending on the loan and offer structure.

The important part? A buydown can change the monthly payment without changing the house itself.
