US Existing Home Sales Edge Up
It’s been an interesting start to Q3 for US real estate: while existing-home sales dipped 1.7% month-over-month, they’re still up 0.7% from last year—evidence that completed transactions are holding just ahead of last summer’s pace. Inventory continues to be tight, ending early Q3 at 1.54 million homes—down 1.9% from last month and 0.6% from last year. For buyers, that means keeping a close eye on listings remains essential. Nationally, affordability has actually improved a bit, even with rising prices, indicating that those who are prepared can take advantage when the right opportunity arises. Mortgage rates have averaged in the high 6% range for a 30-year fixed loan recently, so any movement downward could open new doors for buyers as summer continues.
