Today is the last day for citizen comment to TxDOT regarding the Lampasas Relief Route. Please see attached for instructions to voice your comments or concerns.

To clear up any misconceptions regarding the City or City Council:

Council previously supported a TxDOT feasibility study for the route, based in part to address the identified objectives in Section 5.2 of the Comprehensive Plan. Although Council supported a study, it does not imply Council supports the relief route, much less a specific corridor.

I have had many phone calls and conversations with neighbors, fellow business owners and friends regarding concerns with a potential relief route. I cannot stress enough that if you have concerns, make your voice heard to TxDOT.

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR CITIZEN COMMENT.

I’m so proud of this team! Proud to announce we obtained another two word verdict on Thursday for our client on a DWI allegation in Lampasas County.

I take my hat off to the jurors in the case as they were an attentive, active listening and critical thinking bunch that both sides had the pleasure of speaking with afterwards.

It was also a bit of a nerve wracking a times, but an honor to try this case against one of my favorite prosecutors, who in my opinion happens to be one of the better trial attorneys in the Lone Star State. Truly a top tier courtroom gun slinger.

My staff put in a handful of very early mornings and late nights, shifting from trial prep to day-to-day client relations, to pleas in multiple counties, to drafting and review, to creative scheduling. Marci, Shellie and Ryan crushed it this week and can’t thank them enough.

We can’t guarantee results, but we can guarantee to always fight for our clients’ best interest in and out of the courtroom. Because at the office of Zachary J. Morris, Attorney at Law our focus is on the people that trust us with their lives and livelihoods. People we’re most always proud to call neighbors and friends.

Give us a shout if we can help you with any of your legal needs! If we can’t do it, we’ll help you find somebody that can.

Though I won’t be reading this year. I have been told that this year’s Declaration of Independence reading will be held at the Lampasas County Courthouse on Friday July 1st at 9:30 a.m.

This is a wonderful event, and I encourage all able to attend to do just that!

It’s been a heck of a 7 days getting back in trial. I faced tough prosecutors that I have the utmost respect for, in front of two of my favorite Judges, for two different clients, in two different courts, to two different juries, and came out with Not Guilty for one client charged with Assault Bodily Injury/Family Violence last week and then a Not Guilty on an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Serious Bodily Injury (Self-Defense) that wrapped up this afternoon.

Dad made it to watch the trial today, which was awesome!

Above all, I have to thank my staff and trial team for all their hard work. Shellie and Marci worked their butts off and put up with me in trial mode.

Hat’s off to the jurors for actively listening, critically thinking, and upholding their civic duty.

We don’t win them all, but the victories sure do make the fight for justice worth it!

Lampasas to San Antone and on over to Fritztown for a quick stop at the Gillespie County Clerk’s office all before 10 a.m.

Fueled by Dark Skies Coffee and some new music from The Vandoliers. Dangum it’s a good Friday in God’s country Texas!

Lampasas County offices are closed and the 27th District docket is cancelled today, which means we will be working from home. Office calls are being forwarded to cells so give us a shout or shoot over an email if you need anything today.

I’m looking forward to a nice fire and reading forfeiture case law, followed by some light confrontation clause authority!

Stay warm, safe and out of trouble!
