The longer I’ve been in this business, the more I’ve realized something simple:

Most of the stress in real estate comes from fragmentation.

Too many tools.
Too many emails.
Too many “we’ll handle it.”

We’re building toward something better.

One structured experience.
One clear path.
From strategy to closing.

Because buying or selling a home should feel protected - not chaotic.

Treetop Talks w/ BB 🌳

I’ve always scoffed at the saying, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.”

The last year, I’ve been trying to help real estate agents improve the client experience. Most weren’t interested.

Honestly? I get it. If it’s still paying the bills, why mess with it?

The problem is… the system is broken - we’ve just normalized it. Nearly 50% of buyers report being on the verge of tears at some point during the process. Buying or selling a home has become unnecessarily stressful, confusing, and isolating. And yet, that same broken system has lined a lot of pockets. So it survives.

A few weeks ago at dinner, Lauren Lucas dropped a phrase that hit me like a tuning fork: “The Messy Middle.” And just like that, a year of frustration made sense.

We’re in the messy middle.

The old systems still work - but the writing is on the wall.

Tech platforms are becoming the point of entry. They control search, attention, and access. They’ll route consumers to their partners.

And the local pro? Often left behind - even the ones who built their business with integrity. That’s the part that bothers me most.

So yeah… I’ve started saying, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.”..

But not in the way it’s usually meant.
Not surrender.
Not sell out.
Join the side of the consumer.
Join clarity.
Join better process.
Join the future - before it decides for you.

The messy middle is uncomfortable.

But it’s also where real change starts.

Google just entered the portal game.
Rocket is right behind them.
ChatGPT is already embedded with Zillow.

If you think the client experience doesn’t need to change…
you’re dead wrong.

Access to the MLS is quickly becoming the least valuable thing you bring to the relationship.

Your clients don’t need more listings.
They need clarity.
They need guidance.
They need a place to think without pressure.

The winners won’t be the agents with the best search link.
They’ll be the ones who own the experience — before, during, and after the transaction.

Portals are coming.
AI is already here.
The question is whether you adapt… or get replaced by someone who does.

The future agent isn’t a gatekeeper. They’re a guide.

The time to portal up or be left behind is right around the corner!
