The application for scholarships administered by the Polk Education Foundation will open on January 25 and close February 15. It will be open to seniors graduating from Polk County public and charter high schools. To apply students must be inline to graduate having met all requirements to do so, and, they must submit their family's 2022 or 2023 tax return (social security numbers should be redacted). FAFSA cannot be used this year because of the delayed opening by the government.
Right now, students need to make sure their most up to date service/work hours are submitted to their school for entry into the district's student record system. When a student starts an application and enters their student ID number, the program will pull that information along with GPA, test scores etc. and determine which scholarships each student is eligible to apply for. Service or work hours (depending on what each scholarship requires) cannot be updated after a scholarship application is submitted, so to ensure applicants have access to the most options to apply, please make sure all applicable information gets entered/updated with the school BEFORE a scholarship application gets started.
The PEF scholarship webpage will be updated by the week of Jan. 15 with FAQs, tips and the link to apply.
