Starting January 21, 2026, the U.S. Department of State is pausing immigrant visa issuance for nationals of 75+ countries while reviewing policies related to “public charge” and use of public benefits. Applicants can still apply and attend interviews, but no visas will be issued during the pause.

Some exceptions exist, including dual nationals using a non-listed passport, humanitarian cases, and certain law-enforcement or national-interest situations. Tourist visas are not affected. USCIS is also reviewing pending and previously approved benefits, so delays are expected.

The U.S. State Department has implemented a 12-month Visa Bond Pilot Program for B-1/B-2 visa applicants from select countries. Applicants may be required to post a $5,000–$15,000 bond before a visa is issued.

The program affects visa validity, travel restrictions, and entry points, and may increase financial and administrative barriers for travelers.

USCIS Update 🚨

USCIS has placed a temporary hold on certain immigration applications from newly designated high-risk countries. This could mean longer processing times and additional review for some pending and previously approved cases, but it does not mean automatic denials.

Congress is proposing 44,500 new immigration detention beds in the FY2026 DHS budget—an unnecessary and dangerous expansion.

H.R.1 already spent $45B, putting 68,990 people in detention—92% with no criminal convictions.

Detention is deadly, with unsafe conditions, medical neglect, and abuse. Congress must provide
oversight, not a blank check.

H-1B uncertainty doesn’t mean hiring has to stop.

When timelines, budgets, or eligibility make H-1B impractical, employers and candidates are exploring cap-free visa options that better match the work being done.

Visas like O-1 and L-1 aren’t shortcuts — they’re strategic tools when aligned with the role, the candidate, and the company structure.

Understanding your options early can keep projects moving and avoid last-minute fire drills.

🚨 IMPORTANT: New $100,000 Fee for H-1B Workers 🚨

A new Presidential Proclamation has introduced major changes for the H-1B program, including a significant financial requirement for many new applicants. As of September 21, 2025, certain new H-1B petitions now require a $100,000 fee to be paid before filing.

Key Takeaways:

Who is affected?
Generally, new H-1B petitions filed on or after Sept 21, 2025, where the worker is outside the U.S. without a valid visa stamp, or where consular notification is requested.

Who is NOT affected?
Petitions filed before the effective date, individuals with currently valid visa stamps, and most change of status or extension requests granted by USCIS.

Exceptions: These are "extraordinarily rare" and must be proven to be in the U.S. national interest.

If these new regulations impact you or your family, securing professional legal counsel is more important than ever.

POLICY ALERT: New Global Barriers for Asylum Seekers 🌎

The landscape of international protection is changing. New U.S. agreements highlight a major shift: the U.S. is increasingly moving humanitarian processing away from its own soil and onto third-country partner nations.

The Key Changes:

Agreed Transfers: The U.S. now has the authority to transfer "third-country" nationals to partner nations for processing instead of hearing their claims in the U.S.

New Barriers: These deals create a global "buffer" system, making the path to safety more complex and uncertain for families.

Legal Limbo: While unaccompanied minors are currently exempt, most adults face a future where their cases are decided far from the U.S. border.

The rules are changing fast. If you or a loved one are affected, expert legal guidance is essential.

🚨 URGENT: Family Parole Ends Jan 14 🌎⚖️

DHS is officially terminating Family Reunification Parole (FRP) for individuals from Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras.

The Bottom Line:

🗓️ Jan 14, 2026: Parole expires and work permits (EADs) are revoked.
⚖️ Exception: Status is safe only if you filed Form I-485 by Dec 15, 2025.

Don't navigate these rapid changes alone. Protect your future with legal guidance.
