๐ Congratulations to Sgt. John Miller, LDWFโs 2025-26 Louisiana Boating Educator of the Year! ๐ค
The LDWF Enforcement Division recognized Sgt. Miller during the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission meeting on June 2 for his outstanding contributions to boating safety.
A 19-year veteran of the Enforcement Division, Sgt. Miller of Rayville has spent the last 14 years serving as the lead boating education instructor for his Region, which includes 12 parishes. During this time, he has:

Certified the most students in boating education in his region

Coordinated Boating Education Lagniappe Day & other boating education events
โ
Provided boating safety instruction to Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) & Louisiana State Parks personnel
๐ Capt. Jason Russo, the stateโs boating law administrator, said:
"Sgt. John Miller exemplifies the commitment to boating safety education that helps protect Louisiana's boating community. Through his dedication to engaging students and promoting safe boating practices, he has made a lasting impact on boating safety awareness in his region.โ
Adding to this achievement, Sgt. Miller was also selected by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) as the 2026 Southern Region Boating Educator of the Year, earning top honors among nominees from 20 southern states and U.S. territories. He will now advance as a finalist for the Pamela S. Dillon National Boating Educator of the Year Award at the NASBLA National Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee.
