The Miners Cabin - Rehab Part 6

This trip I reached a major milestone completing the subfloor. I also managed to install the new windows and a lockable door and the siding on the existing addition. The drywall is also 90% complete complements of local drywall pro Nick Klang. Next trip in the near future I will be milling some new logs to replace a few that have rotted out, paint the interior and install the finished flooring and kitchen. Stay tuned for more updates.

I spent a couple weeks working at the Cabin before Christmas. The snow came and I left a little early to avoid getting snowed in.

The Miners Cabin - Rehab Part 4

Replacing the foundation, floor joists, some plumbing and electrical. Upgrading the propane system to install some alternative heating and appliances.

The River Complex Fire 🔥 is finally defeated by firefighters and our first major rains. It was a close call (200k acre fire came within 1.5 miles from our cabin) but we were one of the lucky ones. Some unfortunate neighbors lost their homes and businesses in the area.

At the end of this video I added some wildlife that I caught on my game cameras while working at the property. My daughter named our neighborhood Bear Baloo. 😆

The Miners Cabin - Rehab Part 2 - Another Week of Demo

We had plans to stay for a few weeks but I had to cut our trip short 1 week in to take care of some other business issues back home. At least we got pretty much all the major dirty demo work completed. We cut up some firewood from trees we had cut down as they were leaning and threatening the structure. Sent some water samples off to the lab to check for heavy metals like Arsenic and Mercury etc as our water comes from the gold mine up the hill. Hopefully those results show up safe to drink and next time we will begin to reassemble the flooring on the addition.

The Miners Cabin - Rehab Part 1

- Demo Week
My son and I worked our butts off for our first week at the cabin. We pulled out old leaking plumbing and got the bathroom in temporary working condition. Removed cabinets from kitchen and bathroom in the addition and started demolishing the rotten foundation/subfloor. All carpets now removed, septic system was pumped and in good condition. By the end of the week we were both exhausted and the 10 hr drive home was a drag. Next trip we will complete the demo and hopefully starts rebuilding the foundation properly.

The Miners Cabin - Pre Purchase Inspection.

This piece of Californian History was built by hand during the Californa Goldrush. Estimated over 150 years old. It was disassembled and relocated to it's current location in Coffee Creek CA, near a newer gold mine. My plan is to bring it back to it's former glory and create a characteristic vacation rental.
