Week 7: Washington 38, Purdue 26

Absolute gut punch.

Purdue forces five turnovers but still allows 488 yards of offense and 38 points. Even more frustrating, Purdue manages just 26 points itself.

Offensively, I question Purdue’s reluctance to operate under center, particularly in short yardage situations.

Purdue was just 1-for-5 on third- and fourth-down attempts needing four yards or fewer. All five snaps came from sh***un.

Operating under center can be an equalizer. It allows the running back to attack downhill, makes the quarterback sneak a legitimate threat, and creates additional opportunities for play-action.

Four years after the prosecution began, Menashi Cohen plead guilty to one theft charge, received a one year suspended sentence, and the remaining 36 counts were dismissed.

The case also produced a significant opinion concerning the State’s improper use of immunized testimony before a grand jury.

Given the extensive litigation and ultimate outcome, the efficiency of this prosecution deserves scrutiny.

Cohen owes $71,647.96 in restitution, with his $10,000 cash bond, less fees and costs, applied toward that obligation. Yet the plea agreement requires minimum payments of only $100 per month. With that said, restitution can be reduced to a civil judgment lien after the defendant completes probation.

Fisch enters his 3rd yr w/ the Huskies after 3 yrs w/ Arizona and calls the offensive plays. His system borrows from the West Coast and modern spread concepts often w/ 11 personnel.

Offense: QB (1) Demond Williams is listed as questionable. Back up QB (7) Elijah Brown played at Stanford. 86 (TE) Decker DeGraaf was on the Mackey preseason list. WR (2) Dezmen Roebuck started last yr.

LT (76) Kodi Greene is a true freshman. LG (72) John Mills was B10 HM last yr. C (55) Kolt Dieterich transferred from Sam Houston. RG (56) Geirean Hatchett started last yr. LT (74) Drew Azzopardi is a 3rd yr starter.

Defense: DC Ryan Walters is obviously a familiar name. He runs a 4-2-5 w/ Cover 2/3 and likes to generate pressure from four man rushes.

DE (48) Jacob Lane and NT (90) Elinneus Davis started last yr. LB (9) Jacob Manu is a Campbell semifinalist. CB (3) Emmanuel Karnley started last yr for Virginia. SS (7) Alex McLaughlin was B10 HM last yr.

Special Teams: STC Chris Petrilli was w/ Purdue. P (93) Hunter Green leads the B10 in yards/punt. K (95) Tyler Robles was All-SB.

The NCAA is seeking permission to file a reply supporting its emergency request to stay the Monroe County preliminary injunction.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s executive order prohibiting universities from enforcing certain NCAA eligibility restrictions raises serious constitutional concerns.

The order does not cite a single constitutional provision or statute authorizing this action. It appears to exceed the governor’s executive authority and violate separation of powers by effectively creating law without legislative approval.

State Senator Ron Alting is presumed innocent and the allegations are not proof of wrongdoing. But I question the consistency in the appointment of special prosecutor within Tippecanoe County.

Why were two Democrat elected officials prosecuted locally while a Republican elected official received a special prosecutor? Not suggesting political affiliation influenced these decisions, but the distinction must be answered as the public deserves a consistent and transparent explanation.
