Got a bid to refurbish the antique dining table I inherited from my grandmother. This beautiful, lace tablecloth came too, along with a stunning buffet. This tablecloth has adorned basically every Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas table for 30+ years.

The quote came to almost $5000!
My jaw hit the floor 😳

I was feeling sad about it. Sad about telling my grandma the table’s days are passed. So many memories have happened around that table. Two generations worth, and the whole family recalls many of them regularly.

Then, on a completely different note, I was showing my sister a flat lay of materials I’m still deciding on for our kitchen reno. Her immediate response was, ā€œI LOVE IT, it reminds me of grandma’s old dining room!ā€ I was confused because she had pine planks and green carpet… then my sis clarified. ā€œWell, what you’ve picked makes me feel the same way hers did. Warm and inviting, and whole mood.ā€

In that moment I realized it’s ok that table won’t be used any longer. The memories aren’t about the table we were sitting around, but the people sitting around the table. ā™„ļøā™„ļø

I sure am glad, though, that the tablecloth still carries on!

This past week we had quite a bit of death hit our family. Teaching our son the truth of it all, without robbing his innocence, took a lot of thought. Very much so next level parenting! And I’m really impressed with how he’s taken it in. He also lost his first tooth, and how he handled that impressed me too!

Then I stop and look around and I see so much life. In every nook and cranny of our home, we are living. Truly living! I keep catching glimpses of beautiful light, in what would normally be seen as messy and mundane. I think it’s God teaching me more deeply how much life we get to live, and to not forget to soak it in.

Clara Nichole was born at home on Sunday, October 23rd, after 47 hours of labor.

We thought we were going to have a baby on the 18th, after several hours of contractions. Only for them to completely go away.

Then they started again Friday night, and I ended up calling my midwife and mom around 2:30am. I labored until I don’t even remember only to find ā€œprogressā€ wasn’t being made. And, this time, the contractions didn’t go away, they just spread out. Coming strong and often enough to wear me out, but not enough to bring a baby.

After 24 hours of all of that I was DONE. My midwife came over to check on me, and I told her I was ready to go to the hospital. She understood and respected my wishes, but had to call around to all the local hospitals.

Due to staffing shortages, hospitals are no longer taking pregnant patients for ā€œscheduled inductionsā€ as walk-ins. Unfortunately, my first choice said they weren’t taking any patients, and my second and third choices said I would have to be dilated at 6cm before they would admit me.

Needless to say I was feeling overwhelmed.

So, I had my mom come get our two older kiddos. Then, I made a castor oil milkshake according to my midwife’s recipe, and prayed… Pt. 1

This is 33!

The biggest lesson I learned this past year is that the tighter you hold onto what you think is best for your life the more unhappy and stressed you’ll be.

The last time my life was this unsettled was 10 years ago, and I was moving home from Seattle. I was a wreck because nothing was going according to how I thought it should.

The truth is, none of the past 10 years have gone like I thought it should. But, the more I let go of my own ways of thinking and trust God’s leading the more true peace I’ve come to know.

Life is wild, and I’m ok with it. Life is hard and I’ve become content in the hard. Tired but content.

I will not hide away or burrow into a place of ā€œsafetyā€ and ā€œsolaceā€. I’ve tried it before, and have come to learn that is the antithesis of how a woman of God is called to live. It actually leads to less peace and joy.

The belief that it is more blessed to give than to receive isn’t just in regards to our money or gifts, but also of our time and ultimately ourselves.

I’ve given a lot to my kids, mostly my kids, and then to my husband and home. But, also to family and friends. In this next year I pray to be able to show up and give more to more people. That is my hope!

Adapting to a 3rd kid and all. Yes, I will give myself grace in this new chapter, but I won’t let it be a crutch either. ā™„ļø

PS- for a SPLIT second I had the thought ā€œhow cute would it have been to be 33 weeks and turning 33?!ā€ But, then I realized why would I want this pregnancy to take any longer than it is already?? Almost !

People keep asking me how I think Elsie will do with being a big sister. Well, if this is any indication she’ll have me and baby drowning in blankets! All eight were required for all 8 of her babies.

She has started singing, reading to and rocking them. Wrapping them in blankets, and making me put diapers on them. All on her own accord.

I remember Uriah becoming very affectionate towards babies when he was beteeen 18-24mo, and it made me wish he and Elsie were a little closer in age. To see the same thing occurring with Elsie, now, is very comforting.

Officially in the 3rd trimester, and I’m tired. Wishing the heat didn’t hit me so hard these days, because I usually love me an 80 degree day. But, Elsie is currently brushing my hair and I would not change a thing ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø

Client install yesterday!

It was fun putting some of the goodies from the to use!

One of my favorite things to do, when staging, is utilizing spaces in ways that buyers wouldn’t consider. Like putting a sofa where one would typically stick a dresser they’ll never use!

Only downside to my job- it’s usually dark by the time my installs are complete. Professional photos happen today, so hopefully I’ll be able to share more soon!

I don’t just stage my own listings. I stage for other agents too! Feel free to message or email me to find out more. The Fircrest listing, a few posts back, is a more traditional staging job, for reference.

In 21 days we will have lived in this home for 2 years, and in 21 days we will be closing on the sale of it.

As I’ve been cleaning today, I’ve been finding myself stop and pause a lot. Taking in moments, reminiscing of so much life that has been lived here in such of a short time.

We’re moving to Rainier, a tiny town outside of Yelm, WA, to our dream property! A couple of acres, on the river, smack in the middle of my husband’s territory for work.

The story of how it all came to be is one that gives all thanks to God. I’ll share it soon! But, for now, I’m going to continue to sit and enjoy this dreamy view. ā™„ļø
