Last year, the three credit reporting agencies, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, offered free weekly credit reports. All three agencies are extending that benefit until April 20, 2022.

Your credit report is an important part of your financial life that can determine whether or not you can get credit, the terms of that credit, and how much it costs for you to borrow.
Checking your credit report gives you the opportunity to make sure the information on the report is accurate and gives you a chance to correct any mistakes.
Checking your report annually can help you protect your credit history from mistakes and errors (they do happen), or signs of identity theft.

The free report will not give you access to your credit score, but many credit card companies do provide that service.
Monitoring your report is even more important in these uncertain times since fraudsters are more likely to take advantage of these situations.
Keep an eye out for accounts you did not open, Identity errors (wrong name, address or phone number), balance errors, incorrect account status (i.e. late payment when actually on time)
Reach out to the reporting agency if you do spot any incorrect information.
