A decade has now come and gone since I was admitted to the CA Bar and given license to care for clients of my own in the practice law. Ten Years.

There are days when I feel it all come together and give me confidence that I am doing all that I can to to support those people that choose me as their guide. But, there are still plenty of days where I feel that a decade has not been enough to prepare me even in the slightest for what I need to do, or know, or say. Those days are truly a matter of the more I know, the more I realize just how little that I know. But, alas - it is a 'practice' and not a perfection and here I am, in and out of my first decade of practice, on a journey that I hope will include many more.

I think of all of those clients, many turned friends over the years, that have trusted me to be their counselor. And, it brings me great joy to believe that there are so many more that lay ahead. Here I go ever forward, armed with a bit more knowledge and a bit more experience than before, but still with some uncertainty and still with a bit of wonder.

Ten years. WOOSH! Just like that.

Shameless, Shameless Plug:

I was talking to a friend yesterday and, in our conversation, came up special needs planning for my friend's child. My friend essentially said "Oh, you DO that?! I had NO idea!"

YES! I do that! Estate Planning includes asset protection and probate avoidance for the average estate, sure. But, it also includes elder care planning (for folks who may need to plan for long-term care) and spacial needs planning (for parents, guardians and caregivers of children or adults with special needs).

If you are in either situation and you want to discuss your options for determining who will continue that care for your loved one after you are unable to do so and if you want to discuss how we can reserve assets in anticipation of that care, let me know. Because, I DO do that too. :-)

Hello, my wonderful DLG Followers -

Once again this year, I am campaigning for the Copley-Price YMCA, which serves the Mid-City/City Heights area here in San Diego.

As with every year before, all (I mean ALL) of the money we raise during this campaign goes into a fund that is used entirely for underprivileged kids, seniors, families and individuals to help them get into much needed programs or into a membership at the Y. Many of the kids that are served do not have a safe place to spend their time or another location to connect with their community. This Y offers that, plus so much more, with its sports teams, camps, a teen center, community computer lab, preschool, and beyond.
Remember, you do not have to pay now, you can simply pledge a to make a future donation or even pledge to spread your donation out over 10 monthly installments. Of course, if you prefer to pay it all now, you can do that too.

Wow! RIP, Justice Scalia. You had a hand in so much, whether I agreed or not. Your service was great and you must have carried a great weight. Thank you for the years given to us all.
