It’s with a heavy heart that I’m finally able to post about the passing of my brother David. After a long battle with a rare form of leukemia, he ultimately lost the fight on October 3rd. David will always be one of “the twins.”He and his twin, Doug shared a bond that was something special. We lost Doug in September of 2017 to pancreatic cancer, and just four days later David’s dear wife Kerri. The heartbreak of those losses is unimaginable. David’s sons rallied around him, moving in with him and surrounding him with love and 10 grandchildren! Born on December 31, 1956, the twins grew up in La Jolla, went through the LJ schools and graduated in 1974. For those who knew them back then, the stories of their athleticism are legendary. They were jokers: David was the straight man—quieter in his delivery and with a wicked sense of humor. He would rarely to call you by your given name, he preferred his own custom names. From my perspective, as the 10th of 11 siblings in a chaotic and fun neighborhood “kool aid house”, the twins were the sun and the rest of us orbited around them. Losing David means we've now lost our third brother as Donald passed a few years ago. It's awful. David was a wonderful brother, son, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed dearly.
