Such a great food drive! Thanks to all the folks that donated and helped support Hunger Action Month. Thanks to all the support, we were able to donate 483 pounds of food to the Hays Food Bank. I am so proud to represent the great people of Central Texas!

Was happy and honored to partner up with plaintiff's attorneys all across Austin to help deliver thousands of meals in coordination with Meals on Wheels. It was a great event, and they always need more help, please get involved with if you are interested.

The snow and ice on the road are going to lead to collisions and injuries. What's more, your doctor may be closed or unable to see you. If you have been hurt in an accident, I know of a number of doctors and healthcare professionals that are operating in a limited capacity. Even better, these folks may be able to treat you for no up front cost. Call me if you need help.

With this unprecedented storm comes broken pipes and water damage. This damage is usually covered by your home owners policy, however there can be a big difference between the insurance company's estimate and fair value. Keep in mind the following:

1. Make sure you get a couple of quotes on damages to protect yourself.

2. Make sure you get a water remediation company as soon as possible. The earlier you get to drying, the better.

3. Don't be afraid to fight the insurance company if you aren't getting a fair deal. There are going to be huge losses for them on this storm and they may try and make up the difference with subpar quotes.
