James R. Butcher passed away on May 29, 2026. His visitation and funeral service will be held this Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Bible Baptist Church, 2635 South Dixon Road, Kokomo, Indiana. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Jim Butcher was a remarkable man of faith, integrity, compassion, and service. Throughout his life and career, he was deeply committed to his clients, his community, and the State of Indiana. Those qualities were not simply characteristics of the lawyer he was—they were the values by which he lived his life.
In 1968, Jim founded our law firm as a sole practitioner. What began with one attorney grew over the decades into a firm where countless attorneys and employees have had the privilege of working, learning, and serving alongside one another.
For those of us who have followed in Jim’s footsteps, his legacy is deeply personal. We are grateful not only for the law firm he built, but for the example he gave us. He taught us, through his words and through the way he lived, the importance of serving others with integrity, treating people with compassion, and taking seriously the responsibility that comes with being entrusted to help others through some of the most important moments of their lives.
The firm Jim founded continues today because of the foundation he laid nearly six decades ago. His influence can be seen in the attorneys and staff who have been part of this firm, in the clients we have been privileged to serve, and in the community to which he gave so much of his life.
We invite members of our community to join us this Saturday to support Jim’s family, celebrate his life, and honor a man whose faith, character, and commitment to serving others left a lasting mark on so many.
We are deeply grateful for the legacy of James R. Butcher and for the privilege of carrying forward the firm and the values he began in 1968.
Celebrate the life of James Robert Butcher and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
