We’re proud to spotlight our Elder Care Coordinator, Jill Shoffner (left), who participated in a moderated discussion this morning for Wise Senior Living alongside Realtor Suzanne Eaton Real Estate (middle) and Dalton Cousin (right), PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS at Cousin Physical Therapy.

Jill shared her expertise on an important topic for older adults and their families: the mental and emotional changes that can happen as we age. She answered questions about what changes may be a normal part of aging, what signs families should pay attention to, and what steps can be taken to help prevent or address changes when possible.

As an Elder Care Coordinator and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Jill brings a unique perspective to our team, helping families navigate not only the legal and financial aspects of aging, but also the human side of caregiving and life transitions.

📜 Last Will and Testament vs. Living Trust: what's the difference in Tennessee? Many people assume a Will and a Living Trust do the same thing, but they serve very different purposes.

A Will:
✅ Names who receives your assets after your death
✅ Allows you to nominate guardians for minor children
✅ Goes through probate before assets can be distributed

A Living Trust:
✅ Is customizable based on your goals and assets
✅ Allows more privacy bother during life and after death
✅ Can be a simpler process after death
✅ Provides a back-up for financial administration if you are incapacitated

For some families, a Will is enough. For others, a Living Trust can provide additional protection, flexibility, and peace of mind. The right choice depends on your goals, family situation, and the assets you own.
