When was the last time you reviewed your estate plan? Many people assume their plan is complete once it is signed, but regular updates are essential to ensure it continues to reflect your wishes.
At McKinnish Law Group, our East Tennessee attorneys often recommend reviewing your estate plan every three to five years to keep it aligned with your current circumstances.
Major life changes are another important reason to revisit your documents. Events such as marriage, divorce, a move, or the addition of a child can significantly impact your estate planning needs, and it is best to review your plan within 60 to 90 days of those changes.
We also encourage clients to stay aware of the “5 Ds” that commonly trigger updates: death, disability, divorce, distance, and descendants.
Your estate plan should evolve as your life does. If it has been a while since your last review, our team is here to help you take the next step.
