One of my favorite places to be when it's raining is in my office. I love watching the rain through these giant windows that I have. Being in historic downtown Kingfisher and watching the rain really is just so peaceful. And it's made even better tonight by the jazz music I can hear being piped through the speakers downtown for the sip and stroll. I love my office location. I love that I've been able to make this space my own. And I would love for you to come in and visit me sometime. Who knows, maybe you'll come in when it's raining. Just watch your step.

Quick question: if you were hospitalized tomorrow, who would actually be able to handle things for you?

Could your spouse access the accounts they need?
Could someone deal with the mortgage company?
Could they sign something involving your property?
Could they handle insurance, taxes, or business matters?

A lot of people assume the answer is automatically yes.

It isn’t always.

That’s one of the reasons powers of attorney matter. They are not just “estate planning paperwork.” They are what can give the person you trust actual authority to step in when you cannot.

Have you checked yours lately?

If your power of attorney is several years old—or you are not sure what it actually allows someone to do—it may be worth reviewing.

Running a law firm is not nearly as glamorous as Josie makes it seem.😂

Putting aside all the business stuff - it's phone calls and emails. Court deadlines. Documents. MORE documents. Trying to figure out where I put the document I just had 5 seconds ago...

And then there's the actual lawyering part.

But underneath all of that is something I genuinely love:

HELPING PEOPLE SOLVE PROBLEMS.

Whether it's helping a family get an estate plan in place, helping a business owner protect something they've built, helping someone navigate a difficult family-law matter, or simply explaining what a contract actually says - I love this part of the job.

So, thank you for letting me do what I do. And for allowing me to supply Josie with all the treats and toys she needs.
