What a difference 7 days makes! In the past week we said goodbye to Emily, our amazing front office admin, who moved to Wyoming for her husband’s new job. We said hello to Bill Adkins, the landscape artist who started the month long process of our rain garden installation. We ended the week with our first festival in two years at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds for the annual chocolate festival.

Come out to the chocolate festival today for this free family event; see our Penny, grab some chocolate galore, and enter our drawing to win a free $50 gift card to the restaurant of your choice! The festival will be going on until 5 PM today and there are food trucks, vendors, and entertainment, especially for kids. Have a great weekend!

The beginning of this fall season chronicles the end of a chapter as our building no longer looks like the quaint office building that we bought 15 years ago. We are exactly 4 weeks out from the completion of our major renovation that we’ve been planning since this time last year.

Everything is finally taking shape. The parking lot is getting finished right now and the landscaping and rain garden installation will start next week. The interior offices, storage, and conference rooms are being painted and then the contractors will finish up with the trim, molding and carpet.

We are so grateful for how far we have come this past year. Yes, we definitely have growing pains, but we count our blessings every day and never forget the journey it took to get us where we are right now.

She did it! Our extraordinary paralegal, Jennifer Burkitt, made it to 20 years of service with Roberson Law! Jennifer is in charge of leading the probate department and manages hundreds of estate and trust administrations every year. Jennifer is a dedicated worker who comes in most days at 6:30 a.m. and often meets with clients as early as 7 a.m. The staff and clients of our office are so blessed and honored to work alongside her as she brings a wealth of knowledge about probate law to our office. Thank you, JAB, for hanging in there with us all of these years. We are truly grateful for your hard work and dedication.

Our country has been through a lot since we posted this in 2019, but what we wrote two years ago is still true today…

Whether you are a person who lives to work or works to live we encourage you to be thankful for having the opportunity to work in a country that is free and affords most of us the chance to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day!

Thank you Dayton Business Journal for publishing such a great article about our growing firm. We wouldn't be where we are today without the support of our wonderful Dayton community. We are indeed.

The Dayton area's largest, all-woman estate planning, probate and elder law firm is expanding.

“Legacy of Integrity.” The Better Business Bureau Eclipse Integrity Award winners are a group of businesses with whom we are honored to be associated.

Attorney Nancy Roberson and our business manager, Amy Cary, had a great time celebrating the latest group of winners for 2021. Our colleague, Attorney Tom Kendo, and our firm cheerleader, Tom Kennedy, of the Centerville Noon Optimist Club and The Cakery, joined Nancy and Amy in support of all the past and present winners of this prestigious award. Thank you to the Better Business Bureau - Dayton, OH for continuing to bestow our firm with this great honor.

We have a major addition (three, actually). Our building addition is finally taking shape! We have a roof, and the new upstairs offices are being framed and drywalled this week. The construction has now surpassed the halfway point and we are on target for our end of October completion date.

The second “addition” is the new honor that we have been awarded by the folks in Kettering, Centerville, Springboro, and South Dayton. The award is for the 2021 Neighborhood Favorite, and the residents in our community are the people who made this award possible. The Neighborhood Favorite award is sponsored by Nextdoor, the popular app that Miami Valley residents use to communicate news in their neighborhoods. Thank you to all of our neighbors who have spoken out in support of our firm!

The final addition, and this may be a stretch, is the addition of one more year of life for our beloved paralegal Janna Speck. Today is Janna's birthday! We are so thankful that we've been able to spend five birthdays with Janna, who is such a gift to our probate department. Happy Birthday, Janna!

We’ve got three milestones to celebrate this week! The first honoree is our wonderful manager of our estate planning team, Liz Bremner, who is celebrating her one-year anniversary with our office. Liz is not only one of the most friendliest people on earth, but she also has amazing organizational skills, and keeps our attorneys on task.

Next, our awesome and loved-by-all fiduciary services manager, Trisha Webb, is celebrating 11 years at our office this week. Trisha serves our elder care and fiduciary clients. These senior clients wouldn’t know what to do without Trisha’s wealth of elder care knowledge and joyful attitude. Lastly, we have Amy Cary, our fun-loving business manager, who has put in 23 years this month, serving the staff at Roberson Law and making sure that clients have the best experience possible at our office.

Thank you to these three ladies, who provide incredible service to our staff and clients on a daily basis. Liz, Trisha, and Amy’s support enables our attorneys and paralegals to provide the most excellent estate planning, probate, and elder law services in the Miami Valley, and for that our clients are very grateful!

We have been seeing a major transformation to our building lately. The new first and second levels are taking shape and we can now start to envision our new digs.

But we are concerned, friends. It appears that there is a coup forming between our firm’s president, Attorney Nancy Roberson, and our general contractor, Fender Construction, whose owner’s kids all attended Indiana University (IU) too.

This morning, an IU flag mysteriously showed up in the eaves of our new second level. Wonder how that happened? Any ideas, Attorney Roberson?

Have a great weekend everyone, and if you feel like seeing a ginormous red flag waving from the top of our new addition, then come on over and take a look at the spectacle!

You guys, there is a lot of good information in this one!

Is it a violation of HIPAA law to ask about issues related to COVID-19; and, what do you do if you aren't happy with your Medicare plan?

We also re-published a news reporter's interview with Attorney Nancy Roberson about the importance of timing when it comes to getting a will. And, finally, we give helpful estate planning information for people who are considering moving south.

The feedback on this last newsletter has been incredible, so read for yourself what 2,000 of our subscribers are talking about.

The first annual Roberson Law family picnic was a smashing success! After this weekend, no one will ever be able to say that our office is full of a bunch of stuffy lawyers. 🤪

Three of our team members weren’t able to make it due to sports tournaments and a honeymoon, but the rest of our staff showed up ready to eat and play games! All of the Roberson Law ladies brought their husbands, and some brought their kids or grandkids, so it was truly a family picnic.

In the end, Jennifer‘s grandson was the ring toss champ and Janna‘s daughters went neck and neck in the sponge race. The last event was a couples balloon toss contest that Mercedes and Andrew won, and then some of the kids finished off the water balloons with a good old fashioned water balloon fight.

It was a great day of food, fun, and team building! Who knew that a law office could have so much fun? 🎉

We have baby ducks! (Not for real--they're in our video 😄). Thank you to Easy Lawyer Marketing for creating our new display campaign for the Dayton Christian School gymnasium scoreboard that we sponsored again this year.

As schools start opening up again in the next few weeks, we extend our gratitude to all of the teachers who have weathered the storm of teaching in a pandemic, and pray that this next school year is much different than the last.
