Please consider signing and donating to help us stop local Navarro County attorney Michael J. Crawford from taking land where historic Woods Chapel AME church stood since 1892. He has petitioned the court that he should have ownership of property since he has been free range farming for over 10 years. This is not accurate since the physical structure was not removed until 2016-2017. The land was gifted to the community and members of this congregation by freedman Charles Woods, a local black farmer who had accumulated some 1800 acres post slavery. This is 1.5 acres of sacred property that this congregation and community want to keep for generations to come. Additionally, work is being done to put a Texas historical marker on this property to signify its importance in the community as well as the state of Texas.
