🏡 Well...there goes THAT idea.
Anyone waiting for mortgage rates to hurry up and fall might want to pull up a chair. 😂
New numbers released TODAY show the average 30-year mortgage rate has climbed to:
6.71%
That's the highest level in 13 months.
Earlier this year we were getting awfully close to 6%, and plenty of buyers decided:
"I'll just wait until rates come down."
Now they're going the other direction.
But here's what I think is MUCH more interesting.
There are millions of homeowners sitting on mortgages in the 2%, 3% and 4% range who would probably LOVE to move...
but giving up that mortgage feels like giving away a winning lottery ticket.
So we have buyers waiting for rates to fall...
sellers waiting for rates to fall...
and everybody staring at everybody else.
😂
I went down the housing rabbit hole this afternoon because this may be one of the biggest reasons the housing market still feels so strange.
