Random acts of kindness. If a person goes out of their way to do something nice for another, which was unsolicited, is that person obligated to acknowledge the act? If yes, what is the best way to do this? Maybe a verbal "thank you" if someone holds the door for you. What about unsolicited gifts? Do those garner a more involved response? An email? phone call? thank you card?
I received a piece of mail that held a gift card for $25.00. It was unsolicited. I decided the least I could do was reach out to say thank you. This would let the sender know I received the card. I had an all-occasion card on hand and used that write a short thank you note and placed a forever stamp I bought years ago and dropped it off in the mailbox. 15 min. of my time to acknowledge a random act of kindness. I think it was time well spent.
