Your paycheck and your bank account are not treated the same way after a judgment in Texas.
For most ordinary consumer debts, Texas generally protects current wages from garnishment, with limited exceptions.
But a judgment can create different risks once money is held in a bank account. A creditor may seek to freeze or garnish funds, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
That does not mean every dollar is automatically available for collection.
Some funds may still be protected under state or federal law.
