It's been a rough year for us at Bruns honey Farm since our colonies are still being held up by another local beekeeper after arrival from California. I've spent the last two years working with this beekeeper and using my bees to help his pollination contracts, honey production, and bee sales. Now that family and other obligations have come up and I'm unable to help this guy out I asked to have my hives returned along with another beekeepers hives we put on the load to California. It's literally been like pulling teeth to set something up to pick these bees up since they came home from California beginning of April. Nothing but excuses. It's reached to the point where I've had to reach out to the local sheriffs department to try and retrieve them but I have had no luck since he's now claiming the equipment the bees are in are actually his equipment. Which obviously is not true. I even have some of the equipment marked with my name on them which he lied and told the sheriff that I marked his equipment. He's basically offering to return my bees without any equipment how does that even work? He's claiming equipment that he actually was trying to get rid of out of his own operation because the boxes were slightly thicker and didn't fit well on the w clips of the skids so I offered to buy those 90 boxes I picked them up I even kept his note that he left with the boxes in case he tried to say anything later. He also claims the migratory skids were his and I actually paid a guy locally to build them for me lol. Fortunately for me I do have witnesses as to what equipment I own and what I have bought from him in the past. After a year and a half of him profiting off my bees he has the balls to try and make those types of accusations. I've got plenty of friends and family and other beekeepers that have seen my hives before I even got mixed up with this guy. Just a heads up before anybody gets involved with another beekeeper do your homework reach out to other beekeepers and be sure to document everything. Lawyers are not cheap!
Simply put when I brought my bees into the picture they were in their own equipment that I rightfully owned and I expected to have the same amount of colonies returned! God only knows how mixed up my stuff is now that they sat in a holding yard for a month being split and shaken for packages. Anyone that knows me knows that I am not out to bash any other beekeeper but I am simply giving the facts of what happened and what could happen in a situation where you put trust in another person to not try and screw you!
