I accepted a case recently for a Mom, a Dad and their 2 kids all hurt in a bad car crash. The guy who caused the crash had no insurance. Do you think a guy like that had any other way to pay for the damage he caused? Totally irresponsible!

The good news is that these clients had Uninsured Motorist coverage on their own auto insurance policy, so their injuries and damages will be covered under the UM part of their own policy. I don't believe their insurance rates will suffer at all for making this kind of claim either.

I see lots of cases involving car crashes that are caused by uninsured drivers. The only way I know for you to protect yourself and your family from these irresponsible drivers is to have your own Uninsured Motorist AND Underinsured Motorist coverage on your car and motorcycle policies. UM/UIM coverage really doesn't add much to your insurance premiums. And it is one kind of insurance that I think is worth the small added cost.
