We are very excited to announce that Joanna Orscheln has joined Krause and Kinsman Law Firm as a partner. We have personally known Joanna for over a decade, and attended law school with her. Joanna will handle personal injury litigation, including mass torts, and is primarily overseeing the Boy Scouts of America litigation in which our firm represents nearly 7,000 survivors. Joanna has tried more than a dozen jury trials, and has represented clients in federal and state courts across the country.
Joanna began her career as a Prosecuting Attorney in Jackson County, Missouri in the Special Victim’s Unit. She primarily prosecuted crimes involving domestic and sexual violence. Additionally, she tried numerous jury trials for crimes including murder, assault, r**e, and child molestation. This experience makes her uniquely skilled at guiding clients through legal situations when they are at their most vulnerable, and has provided her with the experience necessary to fiercely advocate for, and represent, our clients in the Boy Scouts of America litigation.
Joanna has spent the last 5 years of her practice as a civil defense attorney defending fortune 500 companies, privately owned companies, and insurance companies. She has handled all aspects of litigation from investigations and inspections through trial. This experience provides her with an uncanny ability to anticipate her opponent’s arguments, and craft effective legal strategies to best represent her clients.
In 2022 Joanna was recognized by the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area for Personal Injury Litigation. She is also a graduate of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel’s College of Railroad Trial Advocacy.
