As those of you who follow Paul LLP's trials (pun intended), challenging cases, and victories know, our purpose is making industry-wide changes so the same bad things don't keep happening.
We at the firm personally have many friends experienced a horrific incident last weekend while cheering on their children as the Varsity National Cheer Association Nationals in Dallas. While the details of what really happened are not clear; events that day lead to widespread panic of an active shooter, followed by a stampede of 50,000+ people trying to get themselves and their children to safety. Families were separated for hours not knowing if their loved ones were dead. Children were swooped up and carried by other parents to safety. Children ran across active railroad tracks outside of the arena desperate to get away.
All because (it appears) Varsity (the event producer) and the convention center had completely inadequate security. There was not a police presence at the event, there were no metal detectors, no bag checks, no evacuation plan!, no private security. The safety and security measures you would expect at a large-scale event.
We are researching and working through the best way to help from a legal standpoint. But right now, we are interested in hearing from people who were there, what you experienced, and how it affected you and your family, whether that is physical or emotional trauma.
If you know someone, and think they might want to share their story, here's our dedicated website:
Were you at the Dallas Varsity Cheerleading competition on Saturday, March 1, 2025? The company may be liable for the traumatic events that unfolded that day.
