Kimberly A. Carrington is a leader in the Kansas City Legal Community in the field of adoptions and juvenile law. After graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1990, Kim began her legal career in the courtroom, serving as the first female assistant prosecuting attorney in Platte County, Missouri. This position allowed her to gain valuable litigation experience, including serving as lead attorney in numerous felony jury trials.
Following her time with the prosecutor’s office, Kim served as an attorney for the Juvenile Officer in Jackson County Family Court over a five-year span. After honing her litigation skills in various courtrooms for more than a decade, Kim expanded the scope of her work by opening her own practice in 2000 to better serve the Kansas City Metropolitan Community and follow her passion helping all types of families with their legal issues, including adoptions, minor and adult guardianships, and assisted reproductive issues, as well as traffic and criminal defense.
Kim also offers mediation services to assist her clients and others in resolving legal issues outside of the courtroom. Kim recognizes that mediation is particularly effective in family situations – saving time and money, and preventing potential damage that can result from the litigation process.
To stay abreast of current issues in the legal field, Kim remains an active member of the National Counsel for Children, the Jackson County Juvenile Court Advisory Board, and the Casey Family Programs JET Committee.
When not in the office, Kim enjoys spending time with her son, hand-painting black and white photographs, scuba diving, and traveling with her family.
Edward Moore

Edward Moore’s passion lies in the representation of parties at the appellate court level. The conglomeration of legal research and intense oral advocacy needed to represent clients in the appellate courts presents unique challenges for clients and attorneys. It is just this type of unique challenge that makes appellate advocacy a relished opportunity for Edward Moore. This passion began while Edward was obtaining his legal education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where he was awarded the John L. Sheridan Memorial Appellate Advocate Award. This award recognized Edward as the most outstanding appellate advocate in his law school class.
Edward has argued numerous cases before appellate courts in both Kansas and Missouri, including the Supreme Court of the State of Missouri. As a result of Edward’s experience and knowledge of appellate practices and procedures, his opinions and advice have been sought by numerous trial attorneys who have found themselves walking the untrodden path of appellate litigation.
In addition to his appellate work, Edward has been representing litigants in civil and criminal trial courts at the state and local level for more than 20 years. During this time, he has represented clients in dissolutions, child custody disputes, guardianships, personal injury claims, workers’ compensation claims, real estate matters, estate planning, contract disputes, and provided criminal defense representation for those who have found themselves entangled in the criminal justice system. He has also served as special prosecutor for local municipal courts. It is this background that has provided Edward an expansive knowledge base upon which his current practice is built.
In his time away from the practice of law, Edward composes and plays Spanish guitar music, and enjoys scuba diving and traveling with his family.
