Secrets of a Home Stager: People often ask me what’s the one thing I can do to upgrade my home. There are a few, but you can’t go wrong by enclosing a patio to create a sunroom or screened-in porch.

There’s a saying: “Women buy houses, men buy basements and garages.” I usually add, “So if the home doesn’t blow her skirt up, it ain’t gettin’ bought.” Give her a sunroom or porch, though, and it becomes an oasis. Like a man cave, it’s the woman perch. You can’t go wrong with this one! Home Staging by Cynthia, LLC

It’s Freedom Friday! Celebrate by tossing something into the trash that wasn’t considered trash 5 minutes ago, then yell “Freedom!” That’s 52 things going out the door each year. Involve the kids and yell “Freedom!” in one gleeful chorus!
What did you toss?

It's Wednesday Wipedown! Show some appreciation to your heart by recognizing its unlimited capacity to love. It will never reach “full,” and it will never need purging to create space for another. And another. And another.

It’s Tuesday Toss—we’re reducing the tonnage! This week: Old Year Stuff. Each New Year’s Eve at 11:45 I open a bottle of champagne, bundle up, and walk around the block to figuratively drop onto the street anything I don’t want to carry into the new year. They include negative thoughts, unpleasant memories, and bad habits. I thank them for what they taught me, and thank God for how He showed up for me over the year. It’s an act of closure, and completion. As the clock strikes midnight, I mentally roll out the red carpet for blessings that are on their way to me. Sometimes I’m specific with those, too.
Maybe you walk around the block, or sit outside under the quiet and vast night sky, or write things onto paper and burn it in the fireplace. However it’s done, when you’ve finished, you will be stepping into a new year lighter, and with a truly clean slate.

Quote I’m pondering:
“If it is peace you want, seek to change yourself, not other people. It is easier to protect your feet with slippers then to carpet the whole of the earth.”
~Anthony de Mello

Bookcase Tip, Home Staging by Cynthia: My favorite is to align books flush-forward. It helps to create a neater appearance. What do you think?

BTW, I wrote a blog about arranging bookcases, which contains many more tips. Visit https://TheHomeReboot.com (it's in the Home Design category).
