Meet: Vince Jacoby - Rockhurst

Vince has been with the Jr. Blues since his freshman year and is on his way to being a four year starter with the club. Vince possesses all the skills you can ask for in a rugby player - team player, fast, quick, strong and sees the field. Vince will be a key component to the Jr. Blues this year and next.

Next year Vince will be a four-year starter for the Jr. Blues.

Happy Friday! This week our is featuring Christopher J. Lawler of The Lawler Firm, LLC.

Chris is the founder of The Lawler Firm, LLC. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst College in 1998 and attended law school at UMKC School of Law where he graduated in 2002. Chris clerked for Hon. C. William Kramer and Hon. Jack Grate in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri. Following his clerkship, Chris began working at a small Kansas City civil litigation firm. Chris has been recognized by the Kansas City Business Journal as one of the “Best of Bar” in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. He was selected as one of Kansas and Missouri’s “Super Lawyers” by Law and Politics in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2014 and 2015, Chris was also named as
one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association for the state of Missouri. In 2011, Chris was also nominated for the Lon O. Hocker Award. Chris is also involved in MOBAR, KBA, 8th Circuit Court of Appeals Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, ABA, American Association of Justice, National Trial Lawyers Association, and KCMBA (2006 President’s Award; 2012 YLS President; CLE Speaker).

The Lawler Firm, LLC was honored to represent Mr. Wynn in his claim against the Kansas City Police Department.

In his lawsuit the man said he fell to the ground and stayed there for around 45 minutes as he begged police for help. His lawyer said the incident worsened his existing spinal injury, requiring him to use a wheelchair.

The EIRA Heartland Rugby Academy starts this weekend on 10/24 and there is still time to sign up. Good luck to the Kansas City Jr. Blues Rugby Club and STA Saints Rugby, the two local teams competing in the HS Rugby National Championships this week here in KC!

The Jr. Blues are hosting the Boys HS Rugby National Championships at Swope Park Soccer Village from June 17-19. The Jr. Blues kickoff their first round game v. Tempe on Thursday at 11am on Field 2. Come out and support the Jr. Blues and see some of the best HS rugby in the country!
