While grabbing a coffee yesterday at Barnes & Noble, I was warmly greeted and served by a young man in the cafe named Morgan. He exuded a level of kindness that is rare in interactions such as these.
As I went to sit down to wait on my food, I was perplexed by how I missed engaging such a kind person due my low expectations. In most cases we as consumers are either subjected to inefficient, automated service or poor interactions with overworked, underpaid employees.
I watched from afar as whole Morgan handled every customer after me with consistency. I later went back to the counter to encourage him. Genuine human interaction will ALWAYS leave a lasting impression and potentially change the course of someone’s day!
As AI becomes available to the fingertips of the masses, my hope is that we never downgrade the value of kindness and the human touch in the service industry.
