I wanted to ensure a collaborative and civil divorce for my children’s sake.

I picked Pingel Family Law because I’d read the reviews of Mandee. I wasn’t assigned Mandee at first. When the young attorney who was initially managing my case left the firm, Mandee took over my case.

Mandee is warm, supportive, and 100% no nonsense. She listens well and will remember details about your case that might get lost, but they make a difference. Her interactions with my ex (who was fired by his attorney) were firm, non-combative, and professional. I attended court with Mandee, and I was impressed with her poise in front of the judge. In a busy courtroom, the judge has no time or patience for people who don’t know what they’re doing. Mandee is clearly respected, follows procedures, and doesn’t waste the courts’ time.

Mandee will get to the heart of what’s really going on so quickly that it might take you a while to catch up. I realized what a brilliant strategist she was when we were in mediation. The process went on for hours and was stalling out until she figured out what kind of negotiation was needed. She quickly proposed a strategy that minimized the impact for me but sealed the deal. The next day, my ex backed out. It was deflating, and I was ready to do what I said I wouldn’t do — give up. Mandee was encouraging, and she continued to push until we finally got to the point of resolution. She tackled some really difficult issues and helped me achieve a fair outcome.

Mandee worked closely with my CDFA, Cindy Richey, who is on the left of the photo I took during mediation. Cindy runs her own financial planning company called Prosperity Planning. As a Certified Divorce Financial Planner, Cindy specializes in helping women prepare and plan for divorce and manage financial planning. When it comes to numbers, Cindy is highly analytical and when it comes to details, she is relentless. She worked for months sleuthing through a mess of financial documents and went the extra mile on financial analysis. She had to deliver some pretty bad news to me, which she did with compassion. She put together detailed financial projections that helped make a case for needing maintenance and how much was fair.

These two women fought for me tirelessly when I felt like giving up. I am eternally grateful to them for helping me bring this difficult chapter of my life to a close.

WHAT IF I WAS ORDERED TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT BUT I’M NOT THE DAD?
Depending on what state you are in, you have a limited window of time to address this. If you believe you have been wrongfully declared or determined to be the father of a child who is not yours, time is of the essence in getting this issue addressed.

An action to set aside an order of paternity is filed in the form of an original petition or a motion to modify, depending on the procedural history of the case. There must be evidence that exists that was not considered before the entry of the original judgment, and a DNA test must show conclusively that the man is not the father of the child. The DNA test generally must have been performed within 90 days of the filing of the petition/motion for non-paternity, or the court must order the parties to submit to DNA testing after the case is filed. Divorce or any other child custody case is a difficult experience for everyone involved. Certainly, most parents addressing custody cases or situations through the court system would report high levels of stress, but these situations are often especially hard on children. Children may feel confused, angry, sad, and scared. They may also worry about their future and how the child custody case will affect them.

Children who have effective communication skills are better able to cope with the stress of divorce. They are able to express their feelings in a healthy way, and they are able to ask for help when they need it. They are also better able to understand and process what is happening and why it is happening. Of course, the best case scenario is that the children involved have little or no awareness that a child custody case is pending or will be addressed, but in some situations, particularly if there is a guardian ad litem or a child custody evaluation that the children have to be involved with in some way, it is almost impossible to protect the child from any knowledge or awareness of the litigation. https://www.kansascityfamilylaw.com/family-law/child-custody/

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a chronic disease that affects millions of people around the world. In family law cases, AUD can be used as evidence of parental unfitness. If a parent is found to have AUD, the court may decide that the parent is not able to provide a safe and healthy environment for their children or act in their best interests. This could result in the parent losing custody of their children.

AUD can also be used as evidence of domestic violence. If a parent with AUD is abusive towards their partner or children, the court may take this into account when making decisions about child custody and visitation.
