Yesterday, our team won a $1.6 million dollar jury verdict in Johnson County, Kansas, for our client Joe (he's in the middle in the blue shirt). To the best of our knowledge, this is only the second 7-figure jury verdict in the entire state of Kansas for this type of spine injury.

Before trial, State Farm offered Joe $140,000. Injured people in Kansas often feel pushed into a low-ball settlement. Defense attorneys claim that Kansas juries don't give big verdicts and an injured person should settle for a small amount and live in pain for the rest of their lives instead of fighting and waiting years before they can get to trial.

But Joe was brave. He wanted to get back some kind of quality of life, and he wanted to set a new precedent so that other hurt people can get justice. We are so grateful to our jury for helping Joe and people all through Kansas.

We are starting trial tomorrow morning, representing a hardworking mom who suffered permanent brain trauma in a terrible car wreck when she was a passenger. We are proud to have her back at one of the most important moments of the rest of her life, but it also makes me nervous hoping I can do a good job of communicating her story, harms, and losses to the jury.

Trials are a big job requiring an incredible amount of preparation, and we could not do it without an excellent team at our side. Pictured is our office manager, Michelle. She has been working day and night to make sure we are organized and have everything we need at trial.
