We’re pleased to announce a successful resolution in a lawsuit we brought against AMC Theatres on behalf of our 13-year-old client and his family after he was brutally attacked, beaten, and robbed at their Port St. Lucie theater. A redacted version of the disturbing video was posted to our account earlier this year. When AMC denied our presuit demand package and refused to accept any accountability we filed suit and demanded it. While the amount and details of the settlement will remain confidential per an agreement between the parties, we can say justice was done!
While the State of Florida investigated and prosecuted the criminal perpetrators it was on us to hold the corporation that invited this kind of foreseeable criminal activity accountable for clearly putting profits over safety. A lack of meaningful and competent security, lighting, surveillance, and other industry standard deterrence systems put movie goers at risk. What occurred was inevitable until changes were made. We hope by shining a light on this AMC and other theaters that refuse to spend the money necessary to keep patrons safe will wake up and make these changes, preventing another attack.
Our lawsuit, filed in the nineteenth circuit, alleged negligent security, retention, training, and supervision. It’s been nearly a year since this horrifying ordeal but our clients can now move on, knowing all parties that contributed to this incident have been held accountable.
If you are injured because of corporate negligence please reach out to us. You will be treated like family and we will not rest until justice is accomplished. 🙏🙌
