I have a professional client relocating to the Joplin area for a temporary work assignment and we’re searching for a rental through approximately March 2027.

The biggest challenge isn’t finding a rental—it’s finding a landlord willing to consider a shorter-term lease of about 9 months instead of the traditional 12-month lease.

Ideal setup:
• 2 bedrooms
• Furnished would be a bonus
• No pets
• East Joplin area preferred, but we’re open to options

My daughter took Lola for a walk today.

For those of you who don’t know Lola, she’s a bully. Which means once the temperature gets above “pleasant spring day,” she starts acting like she’s been personally victimized by the sun.

Same girl. Same.

Watching her come back inside looking offended by the entire concept of summer got me thinking about something a lot of people forget when they’re moving this time of year…

Moving is stressful for pets too.

They’re suddenly surrounded by boxes, strange smells, disrupted routines, and humans running around making questionable decisions while surviving on coffee and panic.

If you’re moving this summer, don’t forget the furry family members.

Keep plenty of water available, avoid loading and unloading during the hottest part of the day, keep medications and pet supplies easily accessible, and try to maintain their normal routine as much as possible.

Your dog doesn’t understand that you’re upgrading from a 2-bedroom to a 4-bedroom.

They just know somebody packed their favorite blanket and now everyone is acting weird.

A little extra patience goes a long way.

And if your dog is anything like Lola, they’ll spend the entire move judging your life choices from the nearest air conditioning vent.
