KGG, LLC embraces our history of providing legal services; our roots trace back to 1874, when we began serving farmers and railroads in the area. We continue that steadfast tradition of service today, serving businesses, families and individuals in Will and Cook Counties, and throughout Chicago's southwest suburbs. At KGG, we pride ourselves on offering the legal skill of a large firm with the cus

tomer service of a small one. Our clients enjoy the benefit of one-on-one contact with their attorney throughout the duration of their legal matter. We offer the services of talented lawyers with a wide range of practice experience. We are just as confident in a state or federal courtroom as we are at a negotiation table, representing local clients as well as out-of-state clients needing representation throughout northeastern Illinois. Many of our business law and insurance defense clients have warehouses, facilities or offices in the Chicago area but are actually based elsewhere. Our legal services for consumers, families and individuals range from estate planning to employment issues and from municipal law issues to real estate matters. We are uniquely poised to help in government and municipal law. Until recently, our attorneys were members of a premier national law firm with more than 350 attorneys and legal professionals. In order to offer service on a more personal level, our attorneys decided to return our historical roots and start KG&G. This allows us to provide our clients with the experience and skill of a large national firm while providing the personal relationships that are possible only with a small group of attorneys focused on our clients and their needs. Several of our lawyers have been awarded the designation by their peers as a Super Lawyer and Leading Lawyer in their areas of practice.

HAPPY RETIREMENT, BRUCE KONZELMAN!

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Bruce Konzelman on his retirement effective January 30, 2026!

Bruce has had a long and successful career as an Illinois
attorney, faithfully serving thousands of clients over the span of more than fifty years practicing law. Bruce carefully guided clients through real estate transactions, large and small. He assisted countless businesses in getting started and counselled innumerable individuals on how to best protect and provide for their families with good estate planning. Throughout his legal career, he has been as committed to helping his individual clients as he has been to serving large corporate clients.
Bruce learned his work ethic growing up on a farm, and that work ethic carried over into his service in the United States Navy, and then into and throughout his
legal career. He still owns a farm and has been proud to represent many fellow farmers over the years. And now, finally, Bruce gets to devote more time to working on his farm and gardening but at a more relaxed pace. We hope he also golfs frequently, watches
more football, and enjoys more time with his wife, his kids, and his nine grandchildren.

KGG wishes to thank Bruce for his service at KGG and for his dedication to his clients. We are grateful for his time with our firm.
Congratulations on an outstanding legal career and best wishes for a fun-filled and relaxing retirement, Bruce!

First Amendment Victory for a client!

A federal judge has ruled that Elizabeth Caparelli-Ruff, a former executive director of student services in Illinois' East Aurora School District 131, can proceed to trial with her First Amendment lawsuit against the district. Caparelli-Ruff was placed on leave and later not rehired after she posted a gun raffle advertisement on her personal page in support of her political campaign for regional superintendent in Will County.
The court found insufficient evidence that her post caused a significant disruption in the school environment, a requirement for restricting public employee speech on matters of public concern. The school district cited sensitivities following the Uvalde, Texas school shooting but failed to provide complaints from parents or concrete evidence of disruption.
The judge ruled that while the ad may have been poorly timed, it was political speech protected under the First Amendment. However, Caparelli-Ruff’s breach of contract claims were dismissed, as the court found the district was not obligated to give her advance notice of nonrenewal under the cited policy.
Her legal team called the decision a win for free speech rights. Attorney Paul Richards considers this a victory for employees who wish to express their views without fear of employer retaliation.
