Sheena will be out of the office this week attending the Florida Bar Annual Convention in Orlando where she is being sworn in on Friday as the Third Judicial Circuit Board of Governors Representative. ⚖️
The 2026 Bar Convention is sneaking up on us! Only TWO days until we see everyone in Orlando! Today's 75th Anniversary article is a snapshot of Florida law practice in the 1960s — the perfect illustration of how far we've come in sixty short years. ⚖️
A few surprising facts from the survey include:
• The typical solo lawyer earned $14,000 in 1965 (about $135,000 in today's dollars), with earnings peaking at about $17,000 after 15–19 years in practice.
• Lawyers worked about 2,000 hours annually, including roughly 225 hours of pro bono and community service, or more than five weeks a year.
• Many sole practitioners did not keep time records, while lawyers in firms were more likely to track time and bill hourly (typically $30/hour vs. $25/hour for solos).
